Woman tried to stab guard with screwdriver after stealing from Family Dollar: cops

A woman tried to stab a security guard who suspected her of shoplifting in a Bronx convenience store, according to police and surveillance footage.

The woman was loading up a plastic bag with several goods from a Family Dollar store on Ogden Avenue near 166th Street in Highbridge around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when the store’s security guard caught her red-handed, police said.

The 55-year-old guard tried to take the items from her hands when the suspect — caught on video — pushed him and threatened to jab him with a screwdriver, according to police and video.

“Give me my s–t or I will stab you!” she said before running out of the store, police said.

It is unclear what items the suspect ran away with, police added.

The guard refused medical attention.
