NYPD detective busted for DWI after crash at police academy: sources

An NYPD detective was busted this week when he crashed into a security gate at the police academy following a “liquid lunch” with another cop, police sources said.

Brooklyn North Homicide Detective Michael Jimenez — who was off-duty and attending a training at the NYPD academy on 28th Avenue in College Point — got behind the wheel after drinking and drove back to the academy, striking the gate around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the sources said.

He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and refusal to take a breath test, according to cops.

The incident marks his second DWI arrest, the sources said.

Another detective who was with him could face discipline, according to the sources.
