New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio brought the presidential election to the pulpit Sunday, telling Manhattan church-goers that the nation “turned out amidst the greatest crisis’’ in its history to elect Joe Biden.
“We all join in congratulating President-elect Joe Biden. Doesn’t that sound good? President-elect Joe Biden,’’ de Blasio said at Harlem’s Abyssinian Baptist Church.
“He is a healer. He is a moral force,’’ the mayor said of the president-elect.
Noting what he called record voter participation in elections across the country, de Blasio added, “I want to remind you, all the people stood up and turned out amidst the greatest crisis in the history of this nation.’’
The mayor specifically hailed New York City for fighting back against COVID-19 and recovering to the point where millions of residents made it to the polls to back Biden.
