Man arrested for vandalizing Queens cars with Black Lives Matter graffiti

A man was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly tagging cars with Black Lives Matter graffiti in Jackson Heights, sources said.

Heriberto Torres, 56, of Queens, allegedly admitted to vandalizing several cars in the neighborhood because of his affiliation with the Black Lives Matter movement, police sources said.

Torres was connected to the crimes by a tattoo of a woman on his forearm, which was first spotted by investigators in surveillance video of the vandalism, sources said.

More than 50 vehicles in the Queens neighborhood have been targeted with graffiti, sources said.

This week alone, dozens of cars in Jackson Heights were tagged with spray paint spelling out “BLM” or “AOC,” police said.

Torres was charged in several of the acts of vandalism with criminal mischief and making graffiti, sources said.
