What happened between Lola and Peter in EastEnders?

Peter Beale returned to EastEnders this month – and he’s already caused quite a stir.

As Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) son – and Lucy Beale’s twin brother – his arrival caused ripples, with ex-girlfriend Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) being surprised to see him back on the Square.

Meanwhile Max Branning (Jake Wood) wanted to have it out with him over his split from Lauren.

Now, it seems hairdresser Lola has a secret which could tear Walford apart – but what’s Peter got to do with it?

What happened between Lola and Peter?

Lola has been living her life, enjoying her relationship with Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) and trying to keep her daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown) out of father Ben Mitchell’s (Max Bowden) criminal world.

But the mother-of-one is about to confide in her boyfriend about a secret she’s been hiding.

There’s always been chemistry between Lola and Peter, although they didn’t get together until they were older – and Peter never cared for Lola’s daughter Lexi very much before he jetted off to New Zealand.

Now it turns out that Peter is Lexi’s real father – not Ben – and he’s about to come face-to-face with his ex-partner’s child.

Lola was shocked to discover he was back in Walford in the first place – could she actually be anticipating him realising her daughter is his?

Lola exclaimed at the time, ‘I didn’t know Peter was back’, to which Ian replied, ‘There’s no reason you should, is there?’

‘No, suppose not. We were just kids when we were seeing each other,’ she responded.

The mother-of-one has a history of past turbulent relationships, but will now drop a bombshell on her current boyfriend.

Later in the week, the hairdresser will make a decision about what to do with the information she’s revealed, but could it be about the true paternity of her child?

EastEnders is next on tonight at 8.30pm on BBC One.
