AMC drama The Walking Dead is ramping up as it bids farewell to fan-favourite Michonne Hawthorne (played by Danai Gurira). The character has been largely absent from proceedings since The Walking Dead resumed after its midseason break. Most of the action has focused on the attack on Alexandria involving Alpha (Samantha Morton) and the Whisperers.
Will Michonne leave in The Walking Dead season 10, episode 13?

Now, with the storyline resolved to a degree and the demise of Alpha at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the action will concentrate on Michonne.
The last viewers saw of Michonne, she was going off into the sunset to help Virgil (Kevin Carroll) as they boarded a boat.
He’d asked her to help him with his family and she’d obliged but as the trailer for the upcoming episode of the show reveals, all is not as it seems.
In the promo, Virgil and Michonne turn up to the island only to find it eerily empty of people as suspicions escalate.

Michonne becomes alarmed by the lack of Virgil’s family and tells him: “I need to get back. There’s a lot of lives at stake.”
Virgil sardonically responds: “Wow, all those Whisperer folk got you percolating now.”
However, Michonne isn’t messing around as she holds her blade to his throat and hisses: “Where the hell is your family?”
Before he has time to answer, the trailer cuts to Michonne and Virgil’s boat going up in flames as The Walking Dead appears to turn into an episode of Lost.
“The island’s not clear! It was… until the others came,” Virgil warns.
His words ring out over a montage of creepy scenes as Michonne explores the compound on the island and looks inside several boxes and strange rooms.
Michonne keeps her sword close at hand as she makes her way across the island, suggesting these “others” could still be lurking out in the ether somewhere.
The trailer ends with Michonne prowling the island with two Walkers on leads perhaps as a form of protection, but Virgil is nowhere to be seen.

AMC has also shared a sneak peek from the episode in which Virgil essentially asks Michonne to euthanise his wife and children, who have apparently reanimated as Walkers.
He explains how he never developed fighting skills and so is unable to do the deed himself.
Given the lack of other characters in the promo, it appears the instalment will be following Michonne and Virgil’s adventure.
Fans will finally find out what happened to Michonne but given she will be the star of the show this week, the implication is this will be her swan song.
- The Walking Dead season 10: Alpha star speaks out on major changes
There’s been plenty of speculation and theories about how Michonne is going to be bowing out from the show.
Some fans think Michonne will leave to join up with her former lover Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in The Walking Dead movies.
She could also be killed off – this is zombie apocalypse, after all – but as she’s such a well-loved character, Michonne could just choose to go off on her own.
The upcoming episode called What We Become hints from the title alone Michonne will go through a transformative effect.
But just what will happen to her on the island and why she walks away from her friends and her adoptive daughter Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) remains to be seen.
The Walking Dead airs on AMC on Sundays in the US and on FOX UK on Mondays in Britain at 9pm
