Set during the Cold War, the finale sees Beth (Anya Taylor-Joy) go face-to-face with elite Russian player Borgov.
The pair face off for hours until Borgov calls for a break – which lets Beth see all the people who came to support her.
So far the series showed Beth isolating herself as she fell deeper into her substance abuse problems.
However, her friends – like Benny (Thomas Brodie-Sanders) and Townes Jacob Fortune-Lloyd) – come to Moscow to help her with a winning strategy.
The finale struck a chord with viewers – many of whom said tehy were left "broken" by the emotional finale.
One person said: "At the end when Harry and Benny and all those other guys came together to help Beth, I couldn’t control myself, I started crying ? #TheQueensGambit"
Another added: "I finished #TheQueensGambit. My emotions must be frayed because I started crying at the end. But wow…that was good!!!"
A third remarked: "Why am I crying over this show about chess?? ? #TheQueensGambit Just finished and it was soooo good!! ♟"
Netflix currently hasn't dropped any hints about a second season but it is not looking likely.
Firstly, The Queen's Gambit was billed as a "limited series", which normally means one and done.
Secondly, the book is stand alone and as author Walter Tevis died in 1984, it's unlikely another part will be made.
