The Chase’s Paul Sinha reveals quiz teammate has died of coronavirus as he pays tribute to ‘greatest quizzer’ – The Sun


THE Chase’s Paul Sinha has revealed one of his close friends and fellow quizzers has died from the coronavirus.

The 49-year-old – who believes he has the deadly bug himself – took to Twitter today to pay tribute to Jon Jacob, who he described as the “greatest classical musical quizzer ever”.

Sharing a picture of them in happier times, he wrote: “Woken up to the news that Jon Jacob, my friend and quiz teammate for the last decade, has succumbed to corona.

“Farewell mate, we smashed Sunday afternoons. And you'll always be the Greatest Classical Music Quizzer ever. (second from left).”

His followers were quick to offer him their condolences as he struggles with his own health battle.

Over the weekend the acclaimed chaser, known as The Sinnerman, revealed he was feeling unwell and suggested that he started social distancing "a few days too late".


"Although I cant be sure and i cant be tested it seems likely i have Coronavirus (sic)," he shared.

"Started social distancing a few days too late. Anyone upsets me; I'll be around to sneeze in your home."

Paul has been battling Parkinson’s disease since he was diagnosed last year following two years of pain.

The Chasers sad news comes as last night Boris Johnson addressed the nation and ordered a mass lockdown – closing all non-essential shops, banning gatherings of more than two people and insisting families stay behind closed doors.

The dramatic announcement came it was revealed that 46 more people had been killed by the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll over 300 for the first time to 303.
