The Chase viewers were left scratching their heads during Thursday's edition of the ITV quiz show.
Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to the show for the fourth throwback episode of the week.
The cheeky presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.
Anne Hegerity aka The Governess was in the hot seat trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.
Mick, Jan, Adam and Helen all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Beast in an intense round of general knowledge questions.
Helen was up first but unfortunately didn't manage to make it through to the final round after being caught by The Governess.
School teacher Adam was the second person to try his luck against the quiz champion.
During his cash builder round, Adam made a major slip-up on a showbiz question.
Bradley asked: "In 1953, Marilyn Monroe featured as the centrefold of which magazine?"
Adam replied: "Sports illustrated."
Viewer at home were left gobsmacked at Adam's wrong answer and rushed to discuss the moment on social media.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Marilyn Monroe the famous sportswoman."
Another added: "Marilyn Monroe on the cover of Sports Illustrated!! I just choked on my wine."
A third person posted: "Marilyn Monroe was on the front of Sports Illustrated?"
While a fourth viewer said: "Marilyn Monroe in Sports Illustrated" alongside two laughing face emojis.
Adam's blunder wasn't the only moment which got fans talking.
Bradley was unable to read finish reading out one of the questions because he was laughing so much at the answer "Gritty Beaver".
Contestant Jan went head-to-head against Anne but one question left the studio in stitches.
Bradley asked the player: "Who became the governor of Idaho in 2007?"
As the answers appeared on screen, the host and the audience began to laugh almost immediately.
The presenter started to read out the first two answers "Butch Otter" and "Sturdy Muskrat" before bursting out into a full fit of hysterics.

The correct answer was "Butch Otter", which both Anne and Jan picked.

One person said: "Cos nobody likes a gritty beaver, do they."
"Gritty Beaver?! I get that after a day on the beach!" another joked.
Another added: "A gritty beaver would be damn uncomfortable!"
