The Bachelor Summer Games ‘almost certainly’ will be cancelled due to coronavirus as Bachelorette travel plans change – The Sun

THE Bachelor Summer Games is in major jeopardy of being cancelled as the deadly coronavirus outbreak halted international travel plans for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette.

The latest spinoff of the ABC franchise is scheduled to begin airing in July alongside the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Famous spoiler Reality Steve was the first to report the rumors: “I’m sure ABC will make it official soon, but “Summer Games” I’m hearing is cancelled due to the coronavirus.

“With international contestants on the show, it’s too risky and they don’t want to take a chance,” he added.

A source close with production confirmed to The Sun that they are “90% positive Summer Games will get cancelled.”

“Producers are on edge and they want to be extra careful and they've already cancelled a lot of travel plans for The Bachelorette. So it looks like Summer Games will be impacted too,” the insider revealed.

Longtime host Chris Harrison, 48, expressed his doubt the show that will have contestants coming from all over the word will ever make it to air:

"I don't even know if the Olympics are going to happen this summer, much less our version of the Summer Games.

"A key component of that is getting foreigners in our country. All these people coming in, that's going to be much harder, and I'm not sure we're going to be able to do it.

“So, nothing official, but it's probably highly unlikely at this point that we could pull this off,” the beloved face of the series told ET.

The father-of-two also revealed to the outlet there will be some major changes coming to 38-year-old Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette.

"We've had to already knock this down to North America. We're not going to be doing the elaborate all-around-the-world tour, because you just can't right now," he said, breaking the show’s typical tradition of jet-setting from country-to-country.

“There are massive amounts of hand-washing stations. We are having a part of a trailer where we will have a doctor. You can be checked out. So, there's a ton of precautions being taken.

"We had international travel set to begin very soon, in the next few weeks. Luckily, unlike Amazing Race or Survivor, which are already in production, we were weeks away from production.

"So, it was a 180 for us. It was a quick turnaround, but luckily we had enough time to fix this. The good news is, once we're all on campus, it's a little bit of our own self-quarantine.”

According to reports, one international location that was scheduled for later this season was Iceland.

Fiery blonde Clare – who was announced as the latest lead on March 2nd – is set to begin production of her season Friday, March 13th.
