Spoilers: Ben lashes out at Callum in EastEnders as he tries to support him

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is struggling to come to terms with his additional hearing loss in EastEnders, and boyfriend Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) has been incredibly supportive, but conflict arises between the two in the coming episodes, as the Mitchell lad lashes out at his beau.

Ben continues to struggle with his loss of hearing, which prompts Callum to suggest that he learn sign language. However, Ben brushes his suggestion off, and he later finds himself distracted when Danny Hardcastle (Paul Usher) returns with an interesting proposition.

Ben pretends he can understand what Danny is saying in an effort to keep up appearances, and he’s desperate to ensure that the dodgy businessman doesn’t get wind of his hearing loss.

However, Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) intervenes, and — as Callum arrives to take Ben to his appointment, Danny delivers an ultimatum, leaving Callum somewhat concerned.

During the appointment, Ben learns that his operation won’t be for another couple of weeks, and he later reveals to his boyfriend that said operation could have serious complications.

Callum is desperate to ensure that Ben avoids stress and therefore he quizzes him about Danny, which leads to Ben storming off.

Later, Ben hatches a plan to stay in control ahead of his meeting with Danny, while Callum prepares for his police assessment — something he struggles to do when he learns from Ruby (Louisa Lytton) that Ben is in the club.

As a result, Callum shows up at the club — much to Ben’s dismay — but it soon becomes apparent that he’s there to help. However, things go from bad to worse when Danny discovers Callum’s involvement in the police and thus threatens him, which forces Ben to come clean about his hearing.

With everything having gone pear-shaped, Ben lashes out at Callum and proceeds to storm off.

There’s certainly tension between Ben and Callum, but will the pair be able to reconcile once more?
