Scrubs stars pay tribute to Sam Lloyd, aka Ted Buckland, as he dies aged 56

Scrubs stars have been paying tribute to Sam Lloyd, after the actor died aged 56.

Lloyd, best known for playing lawyer Ted Buckland on the hospital comedy, passed away on 30 April.

While his cause of death has yet to be confirmed, he had been battling cancer, having been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour at the beginning of 2019.

He was then diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer, which had spread to his liver, spine and jaw bone.

Following the sad news, Sam’s Scrubs castmates shared tributes on social media, including Zach Braff, who played JD on the show.

The 45-year-old tweeted: ‘Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together.

Zach went on to share a clip of Sam singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow with his a capella group The Blanks, who made recurring appearances on Scrubs, as well as pictures of some of Lloyd’s most memorable scenes.

Sarah Chalke, who played Elliot Reid, tweeted: ‘Oh Sam…I feel so lucky I got the chance to know and work with you. You were the the kindest, funniest man. Sending so much love to your family. Rest In Peace.’

Series creator Bill Lawrence posted a BTS picture from the show and wrote: ‘Thinking a lot about Sam Lloyd today. (Ted). Truly such a kind, sweet guy. He will be missed by so many.’

‘So sad to hear the news about Sam Lloyd,’ she tweeted.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Vanessa and their son Weston.
