PAUL GASCOIGNE has stepped up his bid to appear on the UK version of I'm A Celebrity.
The soccer legend recently confirmed to The Sun that he was eyeing a place on the ITV show.
Now, we can reveal how the 53-year-old, who recently starred on an Italian version of the programme, has told pals he is willing to get through any tests required to prove he has beaten his demons.
Gazza has previously come close to starring on the programme, hosted by Ant and Dec, only to fail the strict tests producers insist contestants undergo before being signed up.
Now we can reveal the ex-England, Tottenham and Everton ace, has vowed to do “whatever it takes” to take part.
A source said: “Paul’s in the best shape he’s been in for many, many years and being on the Italian version of the show was a big part in that.
“He knows that he will have to prove to producers he is in the right frame of mind to take part in such a high profile show.
“But he is ready and willing to do it – there’s no task on the show he’s scared of and he’d throw himself into the show 100 percent and would make a great camp-mate.”
ITV bosses are likely to have been impressed by his stint on the Italian show called L'Isola dei Famosi.
In it the footy legend jumped out of a helicopter, broke up a fight and showed off his dance moves.
Gazza would certainly be a big attraction for producers. The ex-England, Spurs and Rangers star remains one of the most popular players of his generation.
Over the weekend the soccer legend confirmed he was eyeing a place on the ITV show.
“I did five weeks on an Italian island so I can do three weeks with Ant and Dec in the jungle,” he said. “I’d love to do the British version.”
