Netflix viewers were shocked by the latest instalment of the popular crime thriller, which ended with the sad demise of Ben Davis (played by Tom Pelphrey). With the Byrdes’ operation teaming up with the Navarro cartel next season, Ozark fans believe their downfall could come from the last place they’d expect.
A new theory has proposed teens Jonah Byrde (Skylar Gaertner) could take down his own parents thanks to an unlikely alliance in Ozark season four.
Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) has become a protégé of the Snell family but could be looking for a way out when the series returns.
Meanwhile, Wendy (Laura Linney) is weighed down with the guilt of sacrificing her own brother after giving up his location to Helen (Janet McTeer).
Now Helen has been removed from the picture, it could be the perfect time to strike the Byrdes at their most vulnerable and take down the business started by Marty (Jason Bateman) back in season one.
In anticipation of the next season, one fan took to Reddit to propose an alliance between Jonah and Ruth could form when Ozark returns.
User Savings_Test_1198 posted: “I feel like this is setting up perfectly for Jonah to team up with Ruth, KC mob, and Darlene against his own family.”
Drug dealer Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) could also make for an unlikely ally in the coming war after feuding with the Byrdes on several occasions.
Although she kidnapped Jonah when Wendy denied her the parental rights for baby Zeke, they could find common ground when they realise they’re now under Navarros’ payroll.
The fan continued: “Him and Ruth (with the obvious exception of Wendy) were the closest and most upset by the loss of Ben.
“Jonah can’t believe that her mom played a part in the death of her own family member by shooting the window, and does not think very highly of his parents ever since they thought he could be sick or a kid who shoots up a school.”
Jonah has felt let down and neglected by his parents ever since they moved to the Ozark Mountains.
Having been more focused on their increasingly desperate financial straits, Wendy and Marty’s son may have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to take down their operation.

This fan also claimed Jonah’s connection with Kansas City Mob boss Frank Cosgrove (Joseph Sikora) could also be setting up his role going forward.
“Then he has the connection with Frank Cosgrove from Buddy’s funeral,” they noted.
“This seemed like a random detail at the time, but aligns perfectly with the plot moving forward.”
Though they also admitted: “The only thing that may not align is that Darlene cut Jonah’s hair as a message, but she’s done plenty of worse things to people.”
Darlene’s rivalry was ultimately against Jonah’s parents, so they may be able to put their differences aside and work toward their common goal.
Another fan argued Jonah wouldn’t stoop so low as to work with the Snells, but he may have to leave his morals at the door in order to take down a greater threat.
The first half of season four isn’t too far away as filming wrapped up earlier this month, but viewers will still have to wait until 2022 to discover how the Byrdes’ story ends.
Ozark season 4 will be released in 2022 on Netflix.
