Maisie Smith gives behind-the-scenes insight into a typical Strictly Come Dancing live show day

Strictly Come Dancing star Maisie Smith has given an exclusive insight in to what it is like on a live Strictly show day.

The EastEnders actress, 19, said the live days, which take place every Saturday, are “long” but “so much fun” as she chatted to OK! magazine in an exclusive video interview.

Maisie, who recently hit back at being labelled “cocky” on the show, sat down with OK! during her incredible photoshoot to give us a rundown of a typical live performance day.

She revealed: “A normal Strictly live show day is one of the longest days, but also one of the besets days of my life.

“So it’s usually early, early wakeup – like half seven or eight. Have some brekkie, usually cereal – I mix it up every day – and then in the car by half eight, and then studio at nine and then that’s when it gets crazy because you’ve got hair and makeup for the next couple of hours.”

Maisie then explained how the first performances alongside the live band bring the performances to life.

She described: “Everyone takes it in turns to practice their routines on the stage floor with he actually band, which is incredible because it absolutely transforms the number.

“You’re so sick of hearing the same song again and again and when the band and the orchestra play it, it’s just magical.”

EastEnders actress Maisie, who revealed she secretly broke down in tears on the show, explained how she enjoys the dress rehearsal as it’s an opportunity to see the other couple’s routines.

She said: “And then we’ve got lunch and we have an entire dress run where all of us get to watch each other’s dances, which is so much fun because there’s no pressure of audience or the live cameras and it’s just so much fun because you get to enjoy it with everyone.

“And then we have dinner and then the show is at seven to half seven and it’s so scary but it’s the most amazing feeling and then we usually wrap around half 11.

“So yeah, it’s a long day but so much fun.”

Maisie is currently competing in Strictly, but has been forced to dance for her place in the show twice in the series.

She recently described being in the bottom two as a confidence knock in a candid chat with OK! magazine.

The actress said: “Some people have had it in their heads that because I’m a good dancer that I would be safe every week. But that’s so not the case.

“It was so, so scary. It wasn’t a nice feeling at all.”
