Love Island adopt new catchphrase move mad – but what does it actually mean?

Each year, a different catchphrase seems to make its way out of Love Island. Some are super catchy, like the classic "I've got a text," and others that make us cringe (looking at you Lucie Donlan with "bev.")

Sometimes, contestants create their own one liners – like Olivia Attwood's "dick sand" or Ovie Soko's "message," and lest we forget Marcel Somerville's Blazin' Squad references. And this year, it looks as though Hugo Hammond is attempting his best effort of creating a catchphrase with "move mad."

The 24 year old PE teacher from Hampshire is currently trying to get to know the girls in Casa Amor, and in doing so he's been heard repeating the phrase 'moving mad', with viewers wondering what it means.

It turns out, the phrase is often used on social media – particularly on Twitter – and means that someone is acting out of character or doing something that you wouldn't expect them to do. It's also been suggested it could mean making keen romantic moves.

In fact, the phrase was seen in season six of Love Island after Mike Boateng was seen getting to know several girls in the villa in a short space of time.

Still, despite Hugo's slightly cringe new phrase, his time in Casa Amor seems to be going well as he has been seen cosying up to new housemate Amy Day – with the pair even spotted kissing in the teaser for Thursday Night's episode.

However, viewers were recently left in hysterics as they spotted that Amy's eyes were wide open as Hugo cuddled her in bed.

Hugo, who was recently ignored by Amy as he tried to flirt with her in Casa Amor, finally made a move on her on Wednesday night’s episode as he sealed their new relationship with a kiss following a challenge.

But viewers aren’t quite convinced that the two love birds are meant to be after Hugo, 24, ended the brief smooch by saying “job done” which shocked his new belle.

Following their brief embrace, Hugo proudly pulled away from Amy as he stretched out on the sun lounger.

After nearly a month inside the villa with not much luck in the love department, Hugo admitted he needed to “take a minute” after their swift snog.

A surprised Amy couldn’t believe her ears as she responded: “Job done? Jesus, what is this?”

And things quickly became uncomfortable when they got under the covers after fans noticed Amy lay wide awake while Hugo, who fans recently joked was the new host of the show as Laura Whitmore continues to remain absent, snuggled up to her.
