Kellie Bright was in EastEnders with another role before Linda Carter

Kellie Bright has captivated EastEnders audiences as Queen Vic landlady Linda Carter for almost a decade.

The actress, who joined the BBC One soap in 2013, has been at the centre of many incredible moments and storylines, undoubtedly cementing Linda as one of the show’s best ever characters.

Linda, however, isn’t actually Kellie’s first role in EastEnders.

The 45-year-old previously appeared in an episode of the soap, all the way back in 1986, as a flower girl at Lofty Holloway (Tom Watt) and Michelle Fowler’s (Susan Tully) wedding.

Kellie discussed her ‘secret’ Albert Square role two years ago, during an episode of Secrets From The Square.

‘In ’86, I was at Lofty and Michelle’s wedding,’ she told presenter Stacey Dooley.

‘I was an extra, as we called ourselves extras in those days. I was a supporting artist.

‘I had to come in late to the church, and my mum had to walk me up the aisle because I wanted to go to the loo or something.’

‘The only shot of me that you saw was the back of my head, I think. You just see my long blond hair, I was wearing a peach dress. I remember it very well.’

The episode in question, the soap’s 168th, saw Michelle’s long-awaited wedding to George ‘Lofty’ Holloway arrive, and unable to go through with the service, Michelle left him at the altar.

Kellie made her first appearance as Linda a whopping 4,597 episodes later, on the December 19, 2013.

Linda, as we mentioned earlier, has been at the centre of many EastEnders storylines, including a harrowing rape storyline, struggling to accept that her son Johnny is gay, and a scheme to try and expose Stuart Highway’s villainy.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Fridays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
