Every week on Strictly Come Dancing, host Claudia Winkleman welcomes a guest star to read out the terms and conditions for the voting. This week was the turn of Fawlty Towers star John Cleese who appeared via video link. However as he read out the terms and conditions, he left viewers baffled by his performance.
After Nicola Adams and Katya Jones performed their Jive, Claudia announced John was this week’s guest announcer.
Popping up on the screen, he waved at viewers and was enthusiastic about being part of Strictly.
However, John began yawning half-way through reading out the terms and conditions.
He continued to yawn and pretend he was falling asleep as he continued with his cameo.
As his head dropped down as he pretend to sleep, viewers took to Twitter to express their confusion.
One viewer wrote: “#Cleese #Strictly – sorry, not funny any more ….”
Another added: “My word look what the second lockdown has done to John Cleese #SCD #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”
“What’s the thing with John Cleese all about. #Strictly,” a third continued.
Someone else posted: “Strictly there, proving that not everything that John Cleese does is funny #Strictly #scd.”
“Yeah. At this point, I’d settle for just getting the Ts and Cs done sharpish #strictly #scd,” a fifth tweeted.
Claudia seemed a little bit confused by John’s performance herself and quickly moved the show along.
John’s cameo was followed by EastEnders star Maisie Smith and her professional partner Gorka Marquez.

Ahead of tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing, Bill Bailey’s odds of winning were dramatically slashed.
After wowing the judges with his Quickstep last week to Talk To The Animals, Bill is now one of the favourites to lift the Glitterball Trophy.
He’s hot on the heels of Maisie Smith and HRVY who have been at the top of the leaderboard for the previous two weeks.
Bookmakers have now made the comedian just 11/4 in the betting, putting him right behind Maisie (9/4) and HRVY (5/2), with every other name being 10/1 in the betting.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We originally had Bill Bailey priced as a rank 33/1 outsider for this year’s Glitterball Trophy but it looks like the comedian might have the last laugh if the latest odds are anything to go by.”
Meanwhile, JJ Chalmers is the bookies favourite to be eliminated tonight with his odds of being booted out now evens.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Sunday on BBC One at 7.25pm.
