James Argent reflects on special funeral for Tom Parker and feeling his presence

James Argent has opened up about how ‘special’ Tom Parker’s funeral was, as he appeared on Good Morning Britain.

The Wanted singer sadly passed away last month at the age of 33 after a brain cancer battle and his funeral was held yesterday, Wednesday, 20 April.

Richard Bacon asked former TOWIE star Arg about the “difficult day”, which was an emotional goodbye to dad-of-two Tom.

An emotional and reflective James began: “Yeah, it was obviously extremely sad at times. It was tough for everyone.”

However, the 34-year-old TV star admitted that it was also a “really special” service filled with “beautiful” tributes to the late singer.

“There was really, really special beautiful moments throughout the day,” he continued, “and it just really felt like Tom’s presence was there from the music and some of the speeches.

“There was almost, you had that element of Tom’s banter, charm and charisma and stuff and I just felt that it couldn’t have gone any better. The sun was shining and it just couldn’t have gone better.”

Kate Garraway added: “You didn’t want it to have happened at all, but if it was going to happen it was good.”

Kate, 54, admitted many viewers might not have “connected the dots” between how the TV star and the singer became friends.

James opened up about his friendship with Tom, saying: “I actually met Tom for the first time, we did a show together called the Jump and we both flew to Austria and we literally lived together for six weeks.

“We spent every day in and out of each other’s pockets and we created so many amazing memories and we formed a good friendship.”

James has also made a close friendship with Tom’s wife, Kelsey as he has attended many of their family moments and celebrations.

He added: “I’ve become really close to his partner Kelsey and I checked with Kelsey before I came on today to just make sure she was happy and she was really keen for me to come on.

“She wanted me to not just talk about me and Tom’s friendship but just the fact of how much an incredible person he was and to raise awareness and she’s going to be working hard to build up the foundation."

He praised Kelsey as “Tom’s rock” who gave him strength throughout his battle with an aggressive brain tumour.

“Kelsey was like Tom’s rock,” he declared, “the reason why he was so strong and doing so well for so long was because of her hard work, love and support.”

Tom and James also appeared together on The Real Full Monty and stripped off on ITV.
