I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Roman Kemp is praying for Kate Garraway every day as her husband Derek Draper remains in hospital following his fight against coronavirus.
The 52-year-old was admitted in March where he was moved into intensive care and place in a coma to help ease the pressure on his body as it battled the virus.
However, despite being Covid free, the father-of-two is yet to wake up after the disease took a toll on his body, leaving him with a hole in his heart, in need of kidney dialysis, and diabetic following complications with his pancreas.
When talking about the tragic news to Metro.co.uk, Roman recalled his time in the jungle with Kate and how he’s doing everything he can to make her life a little easier.
‘I work with a team of people who know Kate just as well as I do, as she is a radio DJ as well as a presenter on Good Morning Britain,’ he said.

‘All I can say is Kate has all the love in the world from myself and my dad and my whole family.’
The 27-year-old continued: ‘We’re praying for her every day and we’re always sending messages and doing whatever we can to make her life any bit easier.
‘And I think it’s a real thing that makes everyone put their own life into perspective, because what she’s going through right now is more important than anything.’
Roman appeared on I’m A Celeb alongside the GMB host, and has now launched his very own breakfast show with his dad Martin Kemp, titled Martin and Roman’s Sunday Best.
His words came after Kate provided an update on her husband of more than 15-years when talking to Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh.
She said: ’He’s very, very sick. And as time goes on… It’s a virus, it’s like a computer virus I think.
‘The doctors manage one bit extraordinarily well and there seems to be a flicker of hope, and then other things emerge and they’re fighting that.
‘It’s affected him from the top of his head to the tip of his toes.’
The 53-year-old went on: ‘Let’s look at some of the positives. He’s now Covid-free so he’s testing negative for the Covid virus. The fight with the virus has been won and he’s still here.
‘But it’s wreaked extraordinary damage on his body and we don’t know if he can recover from that.’
Martin and Roman’s Sunday Best! airs Sundays at 8.30am on ITV.
