I’m A Celebrity put ring of steel around Gwrych Castle in Wales with ex-Royal Marines hired to stop intruders

ITV is hiring former special forces troops to stop snooping at the Welsh castle that is set to host I’m A Celebrity.

I’m told it is negotiating a deal to protect Gwrych Castle from intruders and nosey locals through a security firm that includes former Royal Marines and special forces soldiers.

A TV insider said: “The overall aim is to create a ring of steel around the landmark as ITV continue to transform it into a working set.

“And after investing millions in the project, they don’t want the big reveal ruined by anyone getting into the site so they are enlisting a small army of guards to patrol the place.”

I revealed last week how ITV has spent a fortune putting roofs on exposed rooms at the castle in Abergele, Conwy, and building a self-contained studio within the grounds.

The move to Wales took place as Covid made it impossible to produce the show in Australia.

At this rate, it might have been cheaper though.

Dinner grinner for Arg

JOEY Essex and James Argent are all smiles on a trip to Waitrose.

The Towie mates picked up some groceries after what looked like an outing to the gym.

And Arg certainly seems to be living a healthier lifestyle after admitting he had a cocaine habit.

This week he said on Instagram: “I’ve been healing and taken time to continue working on myself.

“I’m proud to say I’m nearly nine months clean and sober.”

Good for him – I’m glad he’s clearly got Joey there to support him too.

He’ll star with Tracy Ann Oberman, Rory Kinnear and Tamzin Outhwaite in the four-part story of Jewish woman Vivien Epstein (Aggi O’Casey) who battles fascism in 1960s London.

Tom plays her boyfriend Jack, who vanishes.

The drama is inspired by the real-life “62 Group” of Jewish people who fought fascism in the capital.
