Grace is the new detective drama on ITV. The show, which is set in Brighton and stars John Simm and Richie Campbell, has already been a critical hit. But when is the second series on the show out?
When is Grace season two being released?
ITV has confirmed that Grace will receive a second season ahead of the first season’s conclusion.
There is no confirmation on the release date of season two, though it is expected to air in 2022.
Episode two of the first season has not received a release date yet either, so it is still early days for confirmation on when season two will drop.
In a statement from ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill, she said: “We are delighted to be adapting more of Peter James’ wonderful novels.”
Who will be in the cast of Grace season two?
Much of the cast will depend on the events of season one for the show, but the main leads of the show will likely return.
The show is led by John Simm as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and Richie Campbell as DS Glenn Branson.
John Simm is best known for Life on Mars and Doctor Who and Richie Campbell is best known for Liar and The Frankenstein Chronicles.
Much of the supporting cast is dependent on the case Grace and Branson are working on, so it is highly likely season two will have an entirely new supporting cast.
Is there a trailer for Grace season two?
Currently, there is no trailer for season two of Grace as fans are still awaiting part two of season one for the detective drama.
Russell Lewis, the main writer behind the series, commented on the announcement of the second season.
He said: “Team Roy Grace are delighted to have been given the opportunity by ITV to return to Brighton (& Hove, actually!) to continue Roy’s story with a new series of films based on Peter James best-selling novels.”
What will happen in Grace season two?
The first season of the show has been broken into two parts, each tackling one novel from the original book series from author Peter James.
Therefore, it is likely season two will continue with this format, adapting books three and four in the series.
Book three, titled “Not Dead Enough”, deals with the murder of Brian Bishop’s wife with Grace suspecting Bishop was in two places at once during the night of the murder.
Book four, titled “Dead Man’s Footsteps”, sees the characters dealing with the unfolding events of 9/11 while they handle another case.
Grace has been a critical hit, already receiving 7.0 on IMDB.
Part two of season one will likely air later this year, 2021, with a release date soon to be announced by ITV.
Grace is available to watch on ITV and ITV Hub.
