Ed Westwick remembers being cast in Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl fans adored the drama which seemed to follow Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester) and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) wherever they went. The CW series was shrouded in mystery as the unknown Gossip Girl spread rumours and secrets around the private school and so everyone was desperate to know who they were from the very start. But whereas the show was ready to watch on Netflix, this is no longer the case.
Why has Gossip Girl left Netflix?
Gossip Girl ran for six series on The CW, devastating fans as it came to an end in 2012.
However, one year prior, the network signed a deal with Netflix which enabled the streaming service to add all of the seasons to its extensive library.
This meant fans who watched it the first time around and those viewing it for the first time could binge-watch Gossip Girl at a moment’s notice.
Unfortunately, 2021 didn’t get off to a good start for fans of the teen show as it was removed from Netflix.

Gossip Girl left Netflix both in America and the UK on Friday, January 1.
So all six series are no longer available to stream at a moment’s notice via the popular platform.
Netflix hasn’t released an official statement regarding the departure but it has been reported the cancellation came as Warner Bros. wanted the license back for Gossip Girl.
This is because the company wanted Gossip Girl for its new streaming service HBO Max.
Where can you watch Gossip Girl now?
For American fans, Gossip Girl can be watched via streaming platform HBO Max which was launched last year.
All six series are now ready to watch with just a click of a button but this is only if you have HBO Max which costs $14.99 per month.
If you’re a HBO subscriber though, you can access the service at no extra cost.
Sadly though, HBO Max is not currently available to purchase in the UK and no plans have been announced when and if it ever will be.
