Gogglebox's Sandra Martin getting tested for coronavirus after tragic losses

Gogglebox’s Sandra Martin has revealed that she’s going to be tested for coronavirus, as she fears she’s carrying it.

The star, who is teaming up with the likes of Alex Reid and Bobby Davro for a charity single in aid of coronavirus relief, has tragically lost five people close to her, including her sister-in-law and a close friend.

Sandra explained to Metro.co.uk that she wasn’t able to attend her sister-in-law’s funeral, saying: ‘I was supposed to go to the funeral, but I thought I’m not gonna get on the train, I’m not gonna go to a funeral because I’m probably carrying it.’

She added: ‘They said to me yesterday that I will be getting tested. I had no symptoms, but I had to get tested.’

The star, who lives in a care home in Birmingham, went on to say: ‘You know what? I’m gonna do it to have peace of mind. I’m gonna get tested.

‘And pray that I’m negative, and if I’m positive, I’m gonna kick off.’

Previously opening up to Metro.co.uk about the death of her sister-in-law, Sandra explained: ‘She did have underlying health issues before she passed away and my brother, who is now in self-isolation is absolutely devastated by it.’

Sandra went on to explain that a lot of people she knows have been affected by Covid-19.

She added: ‘My friend’s dad died first, then my brother’s wife died, my uncle died and my good friend from Brixton died, it is all so tragic. What is going on?’

In memory of her sister-in-law, friend Moses, and everyone she’s lost, Sandra has joined forces with fellow stars to sing a cover of Mariah Carey’s Hero, with the profits from the single going to the NHS.

The Gogglebox star, whose daughter works for the NHS, explained: ‘The song is dedicated to my sister-in-law…[and] for the NHS, what they’re doing.’

TV star Sandi Bogle is also appearing on the single, alongside the likes of Alex Reid, Bobby Davro, Lady C, and Dapper Laughs.

And, elsewhere, Sandra’s raising money in her own way.

‘I’m fundraising money for quite a few people for the NHS. I’m doing shout-outs, I’m doing birthdays…I’m fundraising for a lot, doing little videos,’ she explained.

‘The money goes straight to the NHS. I’ve been doing loads.’

The NHS charity single is available to download via Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify with all profits going to NHS Charities Together.
