GMB viewers slam ‘uncomfortable’ Thangam Debbonaire interview: ‘Please move on!’

Piers Morgan tells Labour MP she’s ‘behaving like a Tory’

Ms Debbonaire joined Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain to talk about Labour’s call for teachers to be vaccinated as a priority so students can return to school. However Morgan and Ms Debbonaire went on to clash over a tweet sent by one of her colleagues, Shadow Minister for Europe and Americas, Catherine West, with the host demanding an apology over it.

“She said it would ‘dumber and dumber’ to take a decision that would be utterly inspired,” Morgan began.

“I simply ask you again, as her colleague, would you like her to retract that statement or are you happy for it to stay up there.”

Ms Debbonaire replied: “What matters is getting people vaccinated and that’s where we are at the moment.”

“What matters is you answering my question right?” Morgan hit back.

Reid jumped in to comment: “You’d acknowledge she was wrong?”

“Was the wrong or not?” Morgan asked again.

Ms Debbonaire answered: “What matters is getting people vaccinated.”

Morgan cut in: “Come on, you’re acting like a Tory now. Was she wrong or not?”

“I don’t think it is particularly helpful to comment on the tweet of a politician. I’d like to talk about the cladding scandal that’s affected thousands and thousands of people,” Ms Debbonaire hit back.

Morgan assured: “Oh we’ll get on to the cladding scandal. I’m just wondering if you think it was right for the Shadow Minister for Europe to say it was ‘dumber and dumber’ for the UK to opt out of the EU.

“If you don’t want to answer the question, just say you don’t want to answer the question.”

“I think everyone should be careful about what they tweet,” Ms Debbonaire finally answered.

Someone else shared: “Piers Morgan on #GMB is usually my guilty pleasure, but this interview is even making me feel uncomfortable.”

A fifth continued: “Please move on! It would be better to return to questioning their priority list. #GMB.”
