Game of Thrones’ Jorah Mormont’s heroic death at Battle of Winterfell was foreshadowed in house motto all along – The Sun

IT took a while but Game of Thrones fans believe Jorah Mormont's death was foreshadowed all along.

Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) proved his unwavering loyalty to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) when he died protecting her in the final season of the HBO series.

Jorah battled alongside the Mother of Dragons at the Battle of Winterfell in the episode The Long Night and valiantly saved her from approaching wights determined to kill her.

It probably would not have shocked many viewers that he gave his life to protect her, considering he was in love with her and had declared his fealty to her years before.

But a perceptive fan rewatching Game of Thrones think that viewers should probably have seen his death coming all along, and his family motto was the big giveaway.

Every house – what we we call families – in Westeros have mottos that represent the essence of who they are.

House Mormont's motto "Here We Stand" and Jorah says it early in the series to Daenerys ' scheming brother, Viserys.

When Viserys tries to take Dany's drangon eggs, Jorah blocks his way and says: by the dragon eggs. Viserys, in "A Golden Crown," moves for the eggs, but Jorah blocks his way and remarks, "Here I stand."

A writer for Screenrant pointed out that the "motto of House Mormont is as stoic as the people who populate the house.”

Jorah was true to his house motto until his dying moments when he chose to stand in front of Daenerys and protect her from the oncoming wights.
