Death in Paradise’s Florence star speaks out on ‘absence’ as star addresses show future

Death in Paradise’s Josephine Jobert has delighted her fans and set the record straight after an eager fan expressed their concern for her character’s absence. Josephine’s character Florence Cassell was notably missing from the BBC series since February 2019, when she left the series for personal reasons. However, as she made a return to the show in February 2021 in season 10, she excitedly shared with her fans what they can expect to see in the upcoming season 11.

After going live on her Instagram account for a Q&A with her followers, one fan of the show expressed their concern for the appearance of her character Florence Cassell in the upcoming season.

The fan asked in the question box: “Are you in Death in Paradise series 11 much because you haven’t been over there a lot?”

The Death in Paradise star responded: “Of course I am! I know a lot of you have been worrying about this, but Florence is back, and I’m happy about her storyline this year too.

“There are beautiful scenes between her and Neville (played by Ralf Little). Very nice ones with Catherine too. And much more to come!

“And I can’t wait to tell you more about episode four and show you all the behind-the-scenes videos and photos I have with the beautiful guest cast.”

Fans have been eagerly waiting for the new series, which is due for release in January 2022.

However, fans won’t have to wait long before they see Florence return to their screens as she will be joining her castmates for the dramas first festive special.

The Christmas will see the whole gang back together as well as welcoming back familiar face Danny John-Jules as Dwayne Myers.

The BBC synopsis reads: “It’s Christmas time on Saint Marie, and Neville is preparing to head to Manchester to spend the holiday with his family.

“But his plans are abruptly changed when a billionaire shipping magnate dies in mysterious circumstances.

“Things only get stranger when a minicab driver in London receives a Christmas card with an ominous message inside that turns the entire case on its head.

“For Neville and the team, will this be a case they can crack together?”

When Josephine announced her departure from the show, fans were devastated as she posted a goodbye message on Twitter.

She explained: “Just a message to just say thank you and goodbye. For those who watched episode six, you now know I’m leaving Death in Paradise.

“I quit the show for personal and professional reasons – nothing dramatic, I swear! Everything is fine it’s just that I’ve been working on Death in Paradise for five years.

“I loved every minute, every minute of it. I’m going to miss the show, I’m going to miss Toby and Ardal and Shyko and everyone, so it’s been a tough decision, but that’s life.”

Josephine recently teased fans about what they can expect from season 11 and teased: “Episode four of next series is also one of my favourites.

“I cannot wait for you to see it. The story (very original), the guest actors etc.

“I have to say, Tobi. I missed him so much this year, and I cried a lot when he left. He was like a little brother. A beautiful human. My sunshine on set.”
