Dancing on Ice: Christopher marks Matt Richardson’s dance a five
Comedian Matt Richardson took to the ice for the very first time on tonight’s Dancing on Ice following fellow comedian Rufus Hound’s withdrawal from the ITV contest. Despite barely being able to skate when he first stepped foot on the rink in training, Matt and his partner Vicky Ogden managed to get through their first performance without a hitch.
However, there was one judge who clearly wasn’t as impressed as the rest of the panel.
Ashley Banjo and Jayne Torvill both gave Matt a score of six for his debut, while John Barrowman was slightly more generous with a 6.5.
Christopher Dean, however, thought the performance was worthy of just five points out of 10 – something Matt was quick to address.
After being quizzed by hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on how he was feeling after his debut, Matt joked it was worth it to only get a score of five, despite Christopher “trying to break his face”.

Christopher was quick to hit back, however, shutting down Matt’s claims and pointing out: “You did that to yourself.”
Tensions quickly began to rise between the two as Chris explained his reasons for the score.
But fellow judge Ashley also found himself putting Christopher under the spotlight.
“I’m no Olympian, but that was a little tough, Chris,” Ashley said to his co-star.

Again, the former Olympic skater was quick to shut down criticism of his score.
“It was a middle score in week one,” Christopher snapped back. “And it was your first skate Matt, right?”
Matt agreed and Ashley moved on with his own critique of Matt’s debut.
Christopher also appeared to irk several viewers at home, with plenty slamming his lowly score for Matt’s debut.

“Poor matt came in on week 4, barely had time to learn a routine and had to do a PASO DOBLE on the ice,” said one fan on Twitter. “I’d say he did alright judges. #dancingonice.”
A second agreed: “Not sure if Matt’s skate warranted a 5. I’d have said a 6 #DancingOnIce.”
“I thought Matt was pretty good considering. Harsh Chris harsh #DOI,” weighed in a third.
And a fourth echoed: “Wow well done Matt Richardson, would never have known that was his 1st dance! #DancingOnIce.”
