Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson has predicted a Northern Ireland crisis after Flybe collapse.
The actor — who portrayed Jim McDonald on the ITV serial drama throughout various periods of its lengthy run — has taken to social media to voice his thoughts on the collapse of Flybe.
Flybe announced today that they have entered administration, leaving customers who’d bought tickets to fly with the airline grounded.
In a video on social media, Charlie said: ‘First of all condolences to everybody at Flybe. It’s terrible news this morning.’
The actor was inspired to take to social media after listening to Nicky Campbell on BBC Radio 5 live.
‘I would have to say you can get the bus, you can get the train or whatever. However, if you are in Northern Ireland this is an extremely bitter blow.’
‘This could be a potentially huge crisis for Northern Ireland. I send you all my very best wishes.’
Charlie famously portrayed Jim McDonald in Coronation Street throughout various periods of his career — with his initial stint beginning in 1989 and coming to an end in 2000.
He frequented the cobbles for several stints throughout the ’00s, and his latest came during 2018, when he showed up in Weatherfield to scam Liz (Beverley Callard) once more.
Coronation Street continues Friday 6 March at 7:30pm on ITV.
