THERE could be a tragedy in store for Daniel Osborne as his son Bertie is rushed to the hospital.
The single dad (played by Rob Mallard) will be left shaken after an incident with a battery may leave his son's life in the lurch.
The young widower enlists his nephew, Adam Barlow and his wife Sarah to babysit Bertie.
The pair take the toddler for lunch at the bistro, and watching Adam effortlessly entertain his cousin prompts Sarah to declare she’s willing to consider having a baby.
Meanwhile, gold-digging Daisy collars Daniel, after overhearing his house is valued at £400,000.
She expresses an 'interest' in English literature and Byron, telling Daniel she dreams of being a teacher.
Ryan wonders why Daisy has never told him this, leading her to accuse him of jealousy.
As Adam changes a battery in Bertie’s toy, Daniel arrives to collect him.
It is then that Sarah realises the old battery has gone missing, fearing Bertie swallowed it, Daniel scoops him up to take him to hospital.
In the street, a passing Daisy offers to administer first aid, but Daniel barks at her to get out of the way and rushes off.
Daniel has struggled as a single dad since the death of his wife, Sinead Tinker, after she succumbed to her terminal cervical cancer in 2019.
Bertie's hospitalisation may end up pushing him over the edge.
