Archie Is 'Happy to Be in the California Sunshine,' Says Meghan and Harry Source

During the couple’s farewell tour in the U.K. earlier this month, Meghan shared a sweet update about her son, revealing that he’s “into everything.”

A close friend previously told PEOPLE, “Archie is the priority. It’s very much still about taking care of him and putting the family first. He’s a happy kid — he loves to laugh. Archie and Harry have such a good time together. And Meghan is a great mom. She’s very much about tending to him. They are trying to live their life as regular parents.”

Meghan Markle's Royal Hairstylist Sent Her a Touching Goodbye Message That Has Me Weepy

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are wrapping up their time as senior royals, and their trusted associates are coming forward to express thanks. One of the well-wishers is hairstylist George Northwood, who up until this point, stayed quiet about his working relationship with the couple. With Northwood in London and Markle in California, it appears they won’t be collaborating as often, which prompted Northwood’s recent Instagram message. A “see you later,” if you will.

“It has been an enormous privilege and a lot of fun working with the The Duke and Duchess of Sussex over the past two years,” Northwood wrote on Instagram. “I have enjoyed every minute collaborating with this amazing couple who not only champion small businesses but have taught me so much about diversity, equality and the importance of good mental health. Here are a few of their many wonderful moments that I was honoured to be a part of.”

⁣⁣
“Harry, Meghan and Archie, wishing you much love and luck for your next exciting chapter! Can’t wait to see you one day soon – and so happy to now be able to share about our special time together 😘⁣⁣”

In addition to his sentiments on Instagram, Northwood opened up to British Vogue about his experience styling “Cali girl” Markle as a royal. “I went to meet her and we hit it off straight away,” he said. “I think I met her in February, around Valentine’s Day 2018. I was a bit worked up beforehand and then, as soon as I met her, she was just like my California girl clients. She said, ‘I’m a Cali girl,’ and I just said, ‘One of my favourites then.’ We hit it off – we immediately spoke the same language.”

Northwood is the man behind some of our favorite Markle hairstyles, including her famous messy bun and sleek ponytails. He accompanied her on tours across the world and kept up with the fast-paced life of a royal. “We went on tour for three weeks to Australia, New Zealand and Tonga etc, and a lot of the time it was just me and her – you have back-to-back engagements, a lot of different looks and a full-on schedule, so you become very close in that period,” he said. “As a hairdresser, you just have a more intimate role, getting someone ready. We made Cali girl hair a bit more formal and had a real laugh.”

He continued, “Working with (Meghan and Harry) was an enormous privilege and I enjoyed every minute – we created some iconic moments.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Former Head of Communications to Work for Queen Elizabeth

A key member of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s team will continue her work with the royal family.

Sara Latham headed the couple’s communications team, and she is now set to work for Queen Elizabeth‘s private office following Meghan and Harry’s official exit from their royal roles on Tuesday. Latham is set to advise the 93-year-old monarch on special projects, reporting to the Queen’s private secretary Edward Young.

Latham acted as a senior advisor for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential campaign. She joined the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team from public relations company Freuds, “where she oversaw global corporate accounts with a particular emphasis on executive thought leadership and purpose-led campaigns,” the palace previously stated. She also was the founder and principal of the Latham Group from 2006 until 2018.

Latham, who holds dual citizenship in the U.K. and U.S., also has experience in the U.K. government, serving as Special Advisor to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media, Sport and Olympics — at the time when it was announced London would host the 2012 Olympics.

As Prince Harry and Meghan settled into their new life in North America, they laid off their London staff.

The staff were told in person in January, reported The Daily Mail, the first to break the news of the couple’s Buckingham Palace office closure. Among the 15 staff members to lose their jobs were private secretary Fiona Mcilwham and assistant communications secretary Marnie Gaffney, the outlet reported.

Catherine St. Laurent, who previously worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will start her role as both chief of staff and executive director of Meghan and Harry’s new non-profit organization in the beginning of April, a spokesperson for the couple said on Monday.

Going forward, Buckingham Palace will no longer comment on enquiries related to Prince Harry and Meghan. In addition, “no other royal communications representatives act on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including palace spokespeople, Household representatives nor royal sources,” according to today’s statement.

The couple’s communications will be managed by U.S. agency Sunshine Sachs, who were initially engaged to do communications support for Sussex Royal Foundation, in addition to charity adviser James Holt in the U.K.

Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, moved from the home they were staying in on Vancouver Island and are now settled in the U.S., a source tells PEOPLE. They are in Los Angeles — Meghan’s hometown — with 10-month-old son Archie. They have been living in a secluded compound amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are 'Personally Covering' Security Costs: Source

Despite reports that Prince Charles is paying for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s security costs, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vowed to do so themselves.

“All security costs are being personally covered by the couple,” a source close to them tells PEOPLE.

The Prince of Wales will continue to help with some of their finances going forward, as PEOPLE previously reported.

The cost of Harry and Meghan’s security, largely carried out by specially-trained officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, has been a controversial point since they announced their desire in January to step down as senior working royals.

Following President Donald Trump’s tweet on Sunday that the U.S. would not pay for the couple’s security since they moved to Los Angeles, their spokesperson told PEOPLE: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

The pair has been living in a secluded compound in L.A. with their 10-month-old son Archie since leaving their Vancouver Island home as they prepare to make their official royal exit on March 31.

Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, are planning to become “financially independent” after they revealed in their bombshell Jan. 8 announcement that they will be stepping down as senior working royals.

The couple will not receive Sovereign Grant funding and have said they will continue to uphold the values of the Queen.

On Monday, Harry and Meghan shared their final post on their joint SussexRoyal Instagram account.

“As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile. Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference—as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities and those on the front line—together we can lift each other up to realise the fullness of that promise,” they wrote, concluding: “Thank you to this community – for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great! Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another.”

Meghan Markle Will Narrate Disneynature Documentary Elephant For an Amazing Cause

Meghan Markle is using her voice to support a major cause — literally. On March 26, Disney revealed the 38-year-old duchess is the narrator of Disneynature’s Elephant. The film, which is set for an April 3 release on Disney+, will follow an elephant family’s 1,000-mile journey across Africa. Markle is lending her voice in exchange for a donation to conservation charity Elephants Without Borders. The Botswana-based organization aims to preserve the biodiversity and landscape of elephant populations in African countries.

This isn’t the first time Markle has partnered with Disney for philanthropy. In July, she and Prince Harry attended the UK premiere of The Lion King, which was held in support of African Parks — a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening wildlife conservation in protected areas. In 2017, Harry was appointed president of the foundation.

News of Markle’s collaboration with Disney came months after she and Harry announced they’d be stepping back as “senior members” of the royal family. “It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment,” the couple shared in a statement.

They have since made a handful of public appearances to wrap royal duties ahead of their official March 31 departure. At the beginning of the month, the duo stepped out for the Endeavor Awards and the Mountbatten Festival of Music. On March 6, two days before International Women’s Day, Markle also visited Robert Clack School in Dagenham, England, where she spoke to students about the holiday. In anticipation of her Disney voiceover, watch the trailer for Elephant ahead!

Meghan Markle won’t be celebrating Mother’s Day today because it’s observed in May in Canada and the US

While many women are celebrating Mother’s Day today, the Duchess of Sussex may not be one of them. Meghan and Prince Harry are now in Canada with their baby son Archie Harrison, who is ten months old, and while every day may feel like Mother’s Day for Meghan, Canada doesn’t actually celebrate the occasion until 10 May – similar to the US, where Meghan is originally from. We’re sure the Duchess will still mark the UK’s celebration though with a post on the SussexRoyal Instagram account. Harry may even decide to have a small celebration for his wife, considering Archie was born in the UK and they both have only just properly settled back in Canada following their final engagements as senior working members of the royal family earlier this month.

WATCH: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with baby Archie

It has been a few months since Archie was last seen in the UK, although it is expected that he will join the Queen at Balmoral this summer after his parents accepted an invitation to holiday with her. However, with the current coronavirus pandemic sweeping the world, it remains to be seen whether those plans are still in place.

Harry and Meghan are making sure they take the appropriate measure of observing government advice in light of the coronavirus outbreak. The royal couple, who announced in January that they will spend the majority of their time in Canada, are currently self-isolating at their home in Vancouver Island. HELLO!’s Royal Correspondent Danielle Stacey has said: “It is understood that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are following government advice with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. Governments around the globe are advising people against non-essential travel, so the family are likely to be staying at their home in Canada in the meantime.”

The couple are determined to give their son as normal an upbringing as possible. This means protecting his privacy and hoping to keep certain details to themselves, like they did with Archie’s christening, who his godparents are, which hospital he was born in (The Portland Hospital, London), and more. The couple also chose to forego a royal title for Archie, in accordance with their wish that he grows up as a private citizen.

Meghan Markle's Former Co-Star Says He Was Bribed to Lie About Date

Meghan Markle‘s former Cuts co-star is revealing the lengths the British media went to to create a story about her life before Prince Harry.

Simon Rex, who previously dated Paris Hilton, claims a British tabloid offered him $70,000 to lie and say he “actually hooked up” with the future Duchess of Sussex. “I said no to a lot of money because I didn’t feel right lying and f–king up the royal f–king family,” he shares on the Hollywood Raw podcast. “It was a lot of money, man. I think they offered me like $70,000.”

He says the one lunch and their interactions on the set of Cuts was the “extent” of their relationship. The Scary Movie 3 star states, “Nothing happened. We never even kissed. We hung out once in a very non-datey way.”

This runs counter to his 2018 interview, in which he joked they never went on a second date, because when he “started kissing her it was obvious that I had garlic breath.”

“She pulled back. It was so embarrassing… She said something like, ‘Oh boy, garlic”,” the Scary Movie 3 actor said at the time. “I just felt so dumb. We laughed about it. She wasn’t rude about it or anything. She was honest. She was turned off. It was an awkward moment.” Not long after, she friend-zoned him, which he said “sucked.”

Now, two years later, Rex is changing his tune. He clarifies, “She was just someone I had met on a TV show.”

Meghan and Prince Harry are currently locked in a legal battle with The Mail on Sunday over the publication’s alleged “ruthless campaign” against the Duchess. In a statement, Prince Harry explained they’re taking legal action as a way to “stand up to this behaviour” and prevent the newspaper from publishing material that “destroys people and destroys lives.”

A spokesperson for The Mail on Sunday told E! News in a statement, “The Mail on Sunday stands by the story it published and will be defending this case vigorously. Specifically, we categorically deny that the Duchess’ letter was edited in any way that changed its meaning.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reportedly Accepted an Invite to Summer With the Queen

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have retired from their duties as working senior royals, but that doesn't mean they no longer members of the royal family.

According to a new report in The Sunday Times, the couple hopes to return to the United Kingdom in June to take part in the Trooping the Colour, an annual event where the British Army takes over the streets to honor the Queen's official birthday. But, that's not all. As the report noted, Harry and Meghan have also accepted an invitation from the Queen to spend part of their summer with her at her beloved Balmoral estate.

As The Times further noted, baby Archie may get in plenty of time with his paternal grandparents, Prince Charles and Camilla, as Prince Harry and Meghan have also reportedly accepted an invitation to spend time at Charles's own Balmoral retreat. This will be a welcome visit as it is likely that Archie has not seen or spent time with the royal family since his parent's official move to Canada some months ago.

It will also be extremely important for the Queen who The Sunday Times reported in January was "very sad" about Harry's absence from both the country and the family. The couple's move marks a stark change from their days living at Frogmore when the Queen could reportedly walk over to say hello to her great-grandchild.

“When the Queen is there on a Sunday afternoon, it is a five-minute walk up the hill for tea with Granny. It is gorgeous,” a former palace staffer told People.

There's no news yet on if Harry and Meghan have plans to spend time with Prince William and Kate Middleton. Earlier this March, people thought the couples' first public reunion for Commonwealth Day services…didn't go well.

It looked to some like William and Kate ignored attempts from Harry and Meghan to say hello as they waited for the Queen to enter Westminster Abbey.

Hopefully, this summer will give everyone another chance to come together!
