‘Zombie’ mum whose baby stopped her sleeping for months saved by ‘magic’ spray

A mum has revealed how her restless baby now sleeps for 10 hours a night thanks to a 'magic pillow spray'.

First time mother Emily Pritchard, 36, says she couldn't get a full night's sleep for more than three months and felt like a 'zombie' after her son Jesse was born last September.

In their exhaustion, she and partner Ross Jewitt, 31, from Braintree in Essex tried everything to help their newborn – who woke up every two and a half hours without fail – to settle down in bed.

"I was like a zombie and stayed in my pyjamas all day – it was exhausting," Emily, a salon manager, says.

"Ross was getting up for work completely shattered and Jesse was miserable, whingy and upset because he was so tired."

They tried playing white noise, getting him to sleep on his side, and even splurged on a £100 course in  cranial osteopathy – but nothing seemed to help.

However the new parents are now rejoicing after discovering a solution costing just £10 in the form of a sleep spray from Boots.

They claim that since they began using Bloom and Blossom's The Very Hungry Caterpillar Baby Pillow Spray, Jesse has snoozed through to the morning for 10 hours straight every night.

As a result, Emily and Ross, who works as carpet fitter, have now enjoyed six weeks of undisturbed sleep.

"No new mum wants to admit how hard it can be when you bring your baby home and not many people are honest about how hard it can be," Emily continued.

"I got a big shock when I brought Jesse home.

"He was waking up every two and a half hours, so I would be up three or four times a night.

"Lots of people told me it was normal for the first couple of months, but it was still happening in December, four months after he was born.

"I genuinely thought something was wrong with him: I even took him to the doctors."

The couple came across the magical spray after Emily shared her dilemma on social media, and it was recommended by her sister-in-law.

It contains plants such as Sicilian lavender, jasmine and ylang ylang, which are known for their calming properties.

"The first time I used it, it was like magic. He slept through the whole night for the first time ever," Emily, who now uses the product religiously, said.

"I woke up three or four times that night just out of habit, but every time I checked Jesse he was fast asleep.

"The following morning I woke up and checked the time. I couldn't believe it when I realised he'd slept for 10 hours.

"The second night I thought 'this is the test' but he slept through for eight hours, and he has slept through every night since."

The infant now sleeps every night from 10:30pm to 8am, something Emily, who is also now back at work, says has been transformational.

"When I was exhausted, I was not enjoying parenting," she said.

"Being a new mum, I felt like I wasn't really there because I was so tired.

"Now, Jesse has completely changed – he's so smiley and happy."
