You may be entitled to a refund if you forgot to cancel Amazon Prime free trial

You’ve enjoyed your free Amazon Prime trial for a month, and maybe even picked up some Prime Day bargains.

But suddenly you’ve been hit by a £79 , or £7.99 fee from Amazon, without knowing why.

When you signed up for unlimited free one-day deliveries for 30 days, you automatically signed up to be enrolled for either a year or a month.

You will have entered your bank details, so Amazon could just automatically take the money.

Those who sign up for a free Amazon Prime trial can cancel at any time, and then won’t be automatically charged.

But if you forgot or didn’t realise you had to cancel, there is something you can do.

If your trial has ended and you have not used any Amazon Prime services since it ended, you will get an automatic refund.

Simply go to Manage Membership and click End Membership.

If you’ve unknowingly used Prime services, it’s harder to get a refund.

But according to Jenny Keefe on the Money Saving Expert website, it’s alway worth contacting Amazon, explaining what’s happened, and urging them to refund you.

Jenny added: “We haven't heard of Amazon refusing to refund Prime memberships which users unwittingly signed up to, but if you're unhappy with Amazon's response, you'll need to complain to them in the first instance by can raising a complaint directly with Amazon.”

If you’re still within your free trial period, go to Manage Prime Membership and cancel.

Once you do this your free trial will continue until your 30 day period ends.
