Wilson hoping superb 147 break will turn his fortunes round at UK Championship

Kyren Wilson knocked in a superb 147 break against Ashley Hugill on Tuesday in the UK Championship and hopes the moment of ‘snooker perfection’ will see him improve his record in the event, which he admits is ‘not the best’.

The Warrior produced the maximum break in frame six of his hard-fought 6-4 win over Hugill, which also saw Wilson make breaks of 107, 92 and 90 to reach the second round.

The 28-year-old has never been past the quarter-finals at the UK Championship and has only reached that stage once, so he is hoping this good form can see him improve his record in the first Triple Crown event of the season.

‘Every event I feel geared up for a good run, I’m in good form, I’m consistently getting results now and I’m always in latter stages of tournaments,’ Wilson told Eurosport.

‘These are the ones that are the most difficult to win because you get your top, top players that try that little bit harder to win these events.

‘Longer format than the best of sevens we’re used to nowadays, 128 in at round one, it’s a long slog so I’ve not got the best record in the UK but it would be nice to change that this week.’

The maximum break was obviously excellent from start to finish but featured a memorable shot to get from the final pink to black, which really caught the eye.
