Tom Sachs' Iconic Mars Yard Shoe May Have Inspired This New Balance 327 Colorway

Debuted with the assistance of Moroccan-influenced brand Casablanca during Spring 2020, the New Balance 327 has since been a strong player for the brand’s lifestyle sector thanks to its outpour of colorways that are both collaborative and fall under the GR category. The silhouette had now been fashioned in a brand new “Tan/Burgundy” colorway, and by the looks of its presentation, you can’t help but think that it was directly inspired by Tom Sachs’ iconic Nike Mars Yard sneaker.

Like the aforementioned Swoosh shoe, this latest iteration fills in its primary lateral N logos with a bold burgundy hue and places it next to suede overlays that are assembled with a golden-brown tone. Canvas materials on the base layer and the laces are supplied with a “Tan” hue which arguably serves as the biggest difference from the NYC-based artist’s creation that features clean white. Additional doses of burgundy also see their way to the tongue branding, throat banners and ankle collars. Midsoles are crafted with angelic finishes and arrive neighbored by gum outsoles.
