That’s right, the “Good As Hell” artist has been singing the praises of “nature’s cereal” for quite some time, but what exactly is this easy-to-make snack?
Well, first of all, let’s start with where “nature’s cereal” comes from. While Lizzo may have hyped up the delicious treat to viral status, it was actually TikToker Sherwayne Mears (@natures_food) who invented the dish (via Today). If you follow Mears’ original recipe, all you need to do is pour some pomegranate seeds, blackberries, and blueberries in a bowl with some fresh coconut water. According to the TikTok video, this fresh version of cereal is supposed to help with digestion and give you a boost of energy, which you definitely need first thing in the morning.
Get creative with your own 'nature's cereal'
While Mears’ recipe is the OG, you can definitely experiment with your own “nature’s cereal.” For instance, Lizzo likes to add ice cubes to her bowl for an extra refreshing taste. TikToker @spicekingcam even added some Tajín seasoning on top for added spice. You can also switch up what fruit you put in your bowl, like TikToker @greyandmama who uses strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. It’s all up to you.
While some TikTokers couldn’t wait to try the trending snack, some were confused why “nature’s cereal” was a new thing at all. A few users on Twitter even pointed out that “nature’s cereal” was basically just fruit salad and nothing special (via the Daily Mail). It had one user begging for the pandemic to end, because they were so upset that “People on tiktok are discovering that eating fruit is actually good and calling it ‘nature’s cereal.'” Whether you love it or hate, there’s no denying that eating a bowl of fruit is always a “good as hell” idea.
