One Direction broke hearts all over the world in 2016 when they announced they would no longer be working together. After a tumultuous year, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson brought the band to an end, after six incredible years at the top of the pop music charts. The year prior saw Zayn Malik making a controversial move to exit the band during a world tour, leaving the band a little disheveled for their final year as a team.

Four years on, the band have since celebrated their ten-year-anniversary, and business is better than ever.

Each of the band’s former members have released their own solo albums, with Horan’s latest record Heartbreak Weather being the most recent.

While the boys have managed to make names for themselves in the last four years, rumours have been circulating throughout 2020 that the gang are going to be reuniting at some point soon.

A One Direction reunion has not been confirmed just yet, but references to the band reuniting “eventually” have been mentioned by Payne in the past.

The odds on the band reuniting in the next 12 months currently sit at 1/5, according to bookmakers Ladbrokes.

While these odds are already very good for the band, they are actually an improvement to the odds which were seen in October of this year.

Last month saw the odds on the band getting back together in the next year at 1/4, which were still fantastic odds.

However as chances improve, a reunion for the legendary quintet is looking even more likely.

Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati commented: “Odds of the lads reuniting are only going in one direction.

“It’s great news for fans with an imminent comeback seemingly on the cards.”

If One Direction were to reunite, they would become the next boy band in the long list of pop history who reunited after public splits.

They would be joining the ranks of Take That, Boyzone, Westlife, and The Backstreet Boys.

One Direction are arguably more successful than these bands, however, as their short six-year stint on stages saw them garner 61 number one singles, and 36 million sales worldwide.

Horan was recently interviewed about his Royal Albert Hall gig, which he put on to support his crew.

During the interview he touched upon the subject of 1D getting back together in the near future.

First, on being asked if he wished people would stop asking him about a reunion, he replied: “Yes! Yes!”

Horan added: “The thing is, you can’t say anything about it.

“You really have to start choosing your words.”

The Nice To Meet Ya singer went on to say: “I’m not really saying anything at all but somehow stories are made.”

Despite this, he concluded: “It’ll happen when it happens, I suppose.”
