MF DOOM Joins The Avalanches for “Tonight May Have to Last Me All My Life (Remix)"

The late MF DOOM hopped on a remix of The Avalanches‘ “Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life,” which is set to appear on the 20th anniversary edition of the group’s debut album Since I Left You.

The previously unheard vocal contribution is a bittersweet homage from the late artist, allowing the track to clock in at just a little three minutes. In addition to MF DOOM, fans can expect other remixes from Prince Paul and Leon Vynehall with the original 18-track project.

Since I Left You was released in 2000 in Australia and 2001 in the U.S. and U.K., and peaked at No. 10 on the U.S. Top Dance/Electronic Albums and No. 31 on the U.S. Top Heatseekers Albums.

“I remember very clearly a few things about since I left you…,” Robbie Chater wrote on Instagram. “we decided not to have any of our voices on it, which has made it last because it’s a kind of transmission; nothing date-stamps it to that time. Also we were careful not to use any cool ass software from 1999 or 2000. So it does seem to just float around in time. Music lovers get it, and that’s what we ultimately are. It’s almost like an exploration of our relationship with the world and with music and, as musicians , what our place is in the whole process. Thank you for being on this journey with us. It’s been 20 years and counting.”
