When will McDonald's breakfast return?

Although overjoyed at the return of McDonald's, Brits have previously not been able to kick off their day with the normal breakfast menu.

But the wait is now over as McDonald's today revealed the first 42 branches that will trial breakfast.

It means some restaurants now open as early as 5am compared to the previous hours of 11am to 10pm.

The news comes after McDonald's UK and Ireland chief executive Paul Pomroy revealed plans in May to trial its breakfast menu.

He said: "We are working hard behind the scenes to open for longer and offer more services.

"I hope that within a few weeks we will be able to start trialling breakfast service."

Yet, Mr Pomroy warned that extending opening hours to include breakfast would only be done if it's safe to do so.

He added: "Please continue to bear with us.

"Employee safety remains my top priority and we will only move forward with new services and menu items when we're confident we can do so whilst still enabling a safe working environment."

What will be on the menu?

Maccies fans will be pleased to know that McMuffins, hash browns, pancakes and bacon rolls are all back on the menu.

But the fast food chain won't be serving wraps, bagels or porridge for the time being.

Currently, all restaurants are working off a limited main menu with items such as McWraps, Legends and milkshakes unavailable.

Which branches will serve breakfast?

McDonald's will only roll out the breakfast menu to a limited number of restaurants to begin with.

You can check out the full list of the 42 branches available from today, June 24, below.

McDonald's currently has nearly 1,000 stores back open as it continues to ease lockdown restrictions.
