Home is 1960s time warp after being empty for decades – and is on sale for £75k

A house left abandoned for decades is like a time capsule from the 1960s – and it’s currently up for sale.

The retro three-bed semi has a guide price of just £75,000 but will need some TLC as it hasn’t been lived in for more than 50 years.

House hunters have been told they will need to have some "vision" to restore it to its former glory.

The property, which is located on an old estate in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, is being sold via auction next month.

Snaps from inside the house show bright colours, printed wallpaper and bold designs that were popular 80 years ago.

There’s remnants of an old kitchen and bathroom but these will need a “full modernisation” to be workable again.

Prospective buyers will also have to tame the overgrown garden too.

The home has a guide price of between £75,000 and £100,000 and has already attracted plenty of interest.

According to Agents Auction House Bristol and West, more than 50 viewings have been booked so far.

Sean Hayward of Auction House Bristol and West said: "For some this won’t be a trip down memory lane, it will be a trip to an era of their parents' childhood.

"As soon as you enter the property you are transported to the late 1960’s, especially based on the wallpaper from the child’s bedroom.”

He added: “Currently resembling something from the set of Steptoe and Son, Brookland Road now needs someone to bring it into the 21st Century for which I’m sure it will provide memories for the next generation of owners.

"It's a great opportunity for someone who is looking to completely renovate and transform a property.

"This could be the ideal family home, situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and close to amenities on Locking Road."

The auction takes place via live stream on May 13.
