In the red corner; his challenger Mo Salah (291 points), Liverpool’s Egyptian King hanging onto his coat tails.

The prize? Dream Team top points scorer for the 2017/18 season.

Battle for supremacy

The two stars have traded blows all campaign so far, with Kane currently holding a 38-point lead over Salah at the top of the standings.

The Premier League’s top two scorers have pulled away from the rest of the field, with Sergio Aguero their closest competitor a further 21 points adrift.

Salah, to his credit, has closed the gap over the last six games, outscoring Kane by 62 points to 42.

But Kane has swapped his feast or famine approach from the start of the season for outright consistency to ensure he remains ahead.

The Spurs hitman was either registering 20+ point displays or not much at all in the first few months, but 12 goals in his last 10 games in all competitions has established a more regular return.

Ronaldo’s record

Both Kane and Salah are on course for two of the biggest scores in Dream Team history.

With both Spurs and Liverpool vying for top four spots and well placed to challenge in the Champions League, the duo are set to continue their scoring sprees well into May.

Their target?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s absolutely ridiculous 477 points from the 2007/08 season.

Ronaldo is the only player to ever break the 400 point barrier, but both Kane and Salah are well on course to change that this season.

Kane is averaging nine points a game and has at least another 12 to play this campaign in all competitions – one of which is an FA Cup replay with Rochdale later this week.

Spurs could feasibly play another 15 games if they can see off Juventus in the Champions League, so if Kane continues at his current scoring rate he’s looking at a score well above the 450 mark.

Could he surpass the Portuguese maestro?

The 500 club

According to our statistics from mid-February, Chelsea’s defence became the third positional unit to reach 500 collective points this season.

High scores from the likes of Marcos Alonso and Cezar Azplilicueta have racked up 501 points for the Blues’ defence.

That follows in the footsteps of Man City and Liverpool’s potent midfield, smashing 601 and 517 points respectively.

City’s midfielders have been relentless, with three entries in the top 15 points scorers this season in Kevin De Bruyne (245), Raheem Sterling (217) and Leroy Sane (150).

And Liverpool’s aren’t far behind, with Salah (291), Philippe Coutinho (168) and Sadio Mane (168) all among the best performers.
