Dana White believes ‘special’ Khamzat Chimaev will be next UFC star after blistering win over McKee at Fight Island 3

UFC chief Dana White is backing rising star Khamzat Chimaev to become one of the best fighters in the world.

The Swedish scrapper created history last night by becoming the first man to brush aside two opponents inside ten days at Fight Island 3.

Chimaev, 26, grabbed the world's attention with a brutal TKO over Rhys McKee after just three minutes and nine seconds.

It was his eighth consecutive victory in his UFC career and White believes the best is yet to come.

He said: "The guy is unbelievable; just incredible.

“Any guy who wants to stay active, who wants to keep fighting, I love that.

"I just love it. He’s a guy who wants to fight and doesn’t care who it is.

"He just wants to stay active and to me, that’s the way guys should think.

“He’s special. He’s a super talented guy and his confidence is through the roof.

"He truly believes he’s the best in the world.

"His quote tonight, literally, was ‘Give me whoever, I’ll smash everybody.’ I love that mentality.”

The UFC is on the lookout for a new star following the retirement of Conor McGregor.

Chimaev is on the road to becoming that man, although has been compared to Khabib Nurmagodev, having been born in Russia.

In his win over McKee, he landed 68 blows compared to his opponent's none.

Ten days prior he destroyed John Phillips at the beginning of the second round.

And it wasn't just White who took notice of his showstopping performance that saw him pocket the £40,000 Fight of the Night award.

Former world champ Daniel Cormier wrote on Twitter: "Wow, who in the world is Khamzat Chimaev? This dude right here just smashing dudes. Two of em in a week. Wow"

Fellow Swede Alexander Gustafsson, who lost on the night, added: "It sucks to lose but I’m alive and healthy it’s a sport, a sport that I love!

"Thanks Werdum for a great fight and the @ufc for the opportunity! Now let’s celebrate my brother and teammate kamza borz!!! He’s coming for everyone, be ready."
