Birkin bag, Bardi back.
Cardi B showed off her brand-new blue crocodile Hermès Birkin bag on Instagram over the weekend, one of two “new babes” she picked up to add to her extensive collection of the covetable carryalls.
A near-identical Birkin is currently listed at $79,000 on 1stdibs.
And the 28-year-old “Up” rapper seems determined to get her money’s worth. On Monday, she made the pricey purse the centerpiece of her look, wearing it with a matching waist-length “azul” ombré wig, dark skinny jeans, an ivory Vivienne Westwood corset ($1,555), Schiaparelli statement earrings and white pumps.
The superstar’s go-to hairstylist, Tokyo Stylez, created the faded blond-to-blue ‘do.
“Cardi’s the one who can really rock it,” the wig whiz told Page Six Style last fall of her over-the-top creations. “Sometimes you can put something on somebody and it wears them; it’s not that with her. She wears it, and wears it very well.”
Added Stylez, “Cardi keeps me on my toes with the hair and fashion.”
It’s not the first time the “WAP” hitmaker has matched her hair to her designer handbag; in February 2020, she rocked a super-long purple ponytail that perfectly coordinated with her violet Birkin.
In August 2018, she even sported an icy blue ‘do inspired by her Lamborghini Aventador.
Cardi’s jaw-dropping Hermès collection includes crocodile, camouflage and glittery styles, gifts from her pal Kylie Jenner and her husband Offset, and a rare Birkin Cargo she said she paid “triple” to acquire.
She slammed racist remarks about her many Birkins last year. “Why is it that y’all asking female rappers if they could get a bag from the Hermès store? Y’all don’t do this to these white celebrities,” she said. “So why is it that y’all gotta be asking us?”
“Hip-hop, we start trends. When y’all say that we devalue s—t, no we actually add value,” she added.
Offset, who famously gifted the couple’s 2-year-old daughter Kulture her own Birkin last year, defended his wife. “Stop letting people on the internet tell ya’ll who can get a Birkin at the store, and how many Birkins you can get,” he said.
“Black people having access to luxury shouldn’t be a debate.”
