An Aldi shopper has shared his "genius" method of slowing down the speedy checkout staff at the supermarket tills with a video he secretly filmed at the till and uploaded on TikTok.

Anyone who frequents the store has experienced the cashiers scanning through your shop at lightning speed, which most people appreciate but some customers apparently find a little stressful.

The chain has previously explained it helps keeps prices low – which is a massive bonus.

What’s more, there is a shelf at the end of the belts designed for you to pack your bags if you didn’t have enough time to organise yourself at the tills.

But the internet is awash with advice from shoppers who have shared their technique for trying to slow down the speedy staff, as The Mirror reports.

On TikTok, the man named Ciaran explained: "Top tip: spread all your shopping out and it gives you time to bag it so they don't throw it at you."

He then shows his shopping spaced very far apart on the belt, with his purchases taking up all of the available room.

The clip has been watched more than 90,000 times since being uploaded on the video-sharing app and many viewers were keen on the idea.

One Aldi customer commented: "Need to do that, Aldi cashiers are way too fast."

Someone else added: "Very good, I'll use this next time."

A third commented: "This is the best life hack I've ever seen" while another replied: "Genius."

But a critic blasted: "It's cheap because they scan quickly and have fewer people working.

"Use the packing bench. Shop elsewhere if you don't like it."
