Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 55, stormed off set as Alex Beresford, 40, queried his ongoing remarks about the Duchess of Sussex, following her interview with Oprah Winfrey alongside husband Prince Harry this week. Piers has said he doesn’t believe a word Meghan said in her candid chat, in which she revealed she had suicide thoughts during her time in the royal family.
Alex said to him: “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle.
“You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.
“Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her.”
At this point, the Good Morning Britain host stood up and walked away from the set, saying: “OK, I’m done with this.”
Alex went on to say: “Do you know what? That’s pathetic. This is absolutely diabolical behaviour.”
Twitter page Media Guido shared a picture of the moment with the comment: “What a snowflake @piersmorgan turns out to be.
“If you dish it out, you’ve got to take it.”
In view of his 7.7 million followers, he wrote: “Agreed. I was annoyed, went for a little cool-down, and came back to finish the discussion.”
Piers also went on to address claims his actions were staged.
He replied: “No, it was real. But the debate that followed was very strong, so worth a bit of @GMB family tension.”
The presenter returned to his seat alongside Susanna Reid to interview Meghan’s dad Thomas Markle.
ITV news royal editor Chris Ship shared the clip of the moment Piers walked off on Twitter.
He said of the latter’s actions: “So @alexberesfordTV defends Meghan on @gmb and criticises @piersmorgan for what he’d said about Meghan’s mental health.
“Piers walks off the set. Surely Piers knows if you give it, you gotta be able to take it?”
In response to this, the journalist replied: “Sure. I just prefer not to sit there listening to colleagues call me diabolical.”
