Mark Labbett, 54, wrote to his 126,000 followers that The Chase celebrated the 11th birthday of its first show yesterday. The Chaser boasted about the impressive audience viewing figures, as he claimed on average 4.08 million people tune in to the popular quiz programme.

He tweeted: “An average of 4.08 million viewers for The Chase yesterday on the 11th anniversary of the first show with a 31.7 per cent audience show. #stillgotit #thechase.”

Mark then corrected: “Oops that should be audience share, mea culpa!”

Fans of The Chase were quick to respond with their delight at the substantial audience numbers.

One wrote: “That’s because it’s the best.”

Another replied: “Best quiz show on tv by a country mile.”

A third commented: “I love the Chase because it’s a great format and the questions aren’t embarrassingly easy, like a lot of quiz shows.”

Recently on The Chase Celebrity Special, Mark crumbled as Joe Swash surprised viewers by winning an incredible £120,000 for charity.

It was touch and go up until the last round where Mark “crumbled” and failed to beat Joe.

Other celebrities taking part in the episode alongside Joe included Kate Humble, Rick Edwards and Fiona Bruce.

The 54-year-old was not impressed as the team celebrated their shocking win.

At the beginning of the programme, Mark said: “If Joe Swash takes me for £47,000 my colleagues will never let me forget it.”

However, Joe managed to get every question right, and admitted he had guessed most of the questions.

He said: “You know what, half of them were guesses.”

Mark also recently engaged in a heated exchange with host Bradley Walsh, after a song about biscuits.

Bradley taunted The Chaser with a rhyme about biscuits, which did not go down well.

It came after a biscuit-related question, when Mark said he “wasn’t allowed to eat biscuits at the moment”.

He continued: “Bradley takes great delight in showing off what he’s allowed.”

Bradley then began chanting “custard creams custard creams jammy dodgers” to an irritated-looking Mark.

The host continued to brag by singing the names of different biscuits, Mark quipped: “Sometimes I really hate you.”
