Linda Lusardi pays tribute to friend Eddie Large who died of coronavirus days after she beat bug

Linda Lusardi has paid tribute to her friend, comedian Eddie Large, who has died due to complications from coronavirus.

It was announced on Thursday that Eddie, one half of duo Little and Large, had passed away at the age of 78 after contracting the deadly bug in hospital.

Dancing On Ice star Linda, 61, was released from hospital just days ago, after being "at death's door" with the illness.

She has now paid an emotional tribute to the late star, sharing a post with her 25,500 Instagram followers.

Posting an image of Eddie with his wife Patsey, Linda wrote: "We are devistated at the news that our wonderful friend Eddie Large has died from the virus.

"Our love and best wishes go to his beautiful wife Patsey and his family," she continued alongside a trio of emojis depicting an angel, a kiss and a red love heart.

Friends and fans were quick to leave their comments, with Lizzie Cundy writing: "So sad, such a lovely man."

Another user wrote: "Sad news, one of the great entertainers, glad to hear you are home recovering Linda, speedy recovery."

With a third adding: "I loved little and large so much. Rest in peace Eddie."

Eddie's son Ryan announced his dad's sad passing, writing in a statement: "It is with great sadness that Mum and I need to announce that my Dad, Edward McGinnis, passed away in the early hours of this morning.

"He had been suffering with heart failure and, unfortunately while in hospital, contracted the coronavirus which his heart was sadly not strong enough to fight.

"Dad had fought bravely for so long. Due to this horrible disease we had been unable to visit him at the hospital but all of the family and close friends spoke to him every day.

"We will miss him terribly and we are so proud of everything he achieved in his career with Syd and know that he was much loved by the millions that watched them each week."

Earlier this week, Linda's husband Sam Kane has announced his wife is "finally at home" after beating the deadly virus sweeping the globe.

Clearly overjoyed, Sam wrote: "It’s with absolute joy that I can tell you my girl is finally at home. She’s on the sofa with a nice cup of tea and Dexter on her lap. She’s doing great.

"She’s battled through this hell and With God’s grace has thankfully come out other side."
