Jess Wright’s pregnancy has ‘taken pressure off’ Mark and Michelle to have kids, says mum Carol

Matriarch of the Wright family, Carol Wright, has revealed that her son, former TOWIE star Mark Wright, and daughter-in-law Michelle Keegan are in no rush to start a family.

Mark’s sister and fellow reality star, Jess Wright, 36, is expecting her first child with business partner and new husband William Lee-Kemp.

And speaking to new!, Carol, 61, says she “hoped” the pregnancy announcement had taken the pressure off Mark and Michelle to have kids.

“When they’re ready, they’re ready. They’re very busy, so I’m sure when the time comes and they’re ready, it’ll happen,” she told us.

Mark, 34, married former Coronation Street actress Michelle, also 34, in 2015 after meeting through mutual friends.

The ex-TOWIE star recently celebrated being cancer free after undergoing surgery to have a benign tumour removed from his armpit.

Carol said she was “very proud” of her son for opening up about his tumour removal, telling us: “He was a bit hesitant about talking about it. He said to me, ‘Do you think I should put it up?’ And I said, ‘Yes, for awareness for other people.’”

There’s plenty of good news in the Wright family-clan at the moment and the TV personality said she was “over the moon” when her daughter Jess told her she was going to be a grandma.

“I burst into tears. She came round and told me and Natalya (Carol’s youngest) together and we were both gobsmacked. It’s just amazing. She’ll be an amazing mum,” Carol gushed.

Jess is not the only one expecting in the Wright family with her and Mark’s brother, footballer Josh Wright, 32, also expecting a child with wife Hollie Kane Wright.

Speaking on the good news, the grandma-to-be said: “It’s mad, isn’t it? Everyone told me once you get one grandchild they start coming like buses and I thought, “It’s so true!” It’s so exciting. I can’t wait.”

If Mark and Michelle do follow suit, the soon-to-be-grandma joked: “It will be like coachloads of grandchildren then instead of busloads!”

Earlier this year, the couple bought a £1.3million home in Essex which they are currently renovating.

Carol said the new house, which is only five minutes from her, is “fabulous”.

“It’s going to be absolutely incredible. They should be there in a couple of months, maybe even before that,” she revealed.
