Jeremy Clarkson’s former mistress, Phillipa Sage, has said that the journalist and broadcaster was the “love of my life”. In a new interview via The Mirror, she reportedly said she thought her romance with the ex-Top Gear host “would last forever” but added their break-up was one of the reasons she suffered a breakdown.
Phillipa – known to friends as Pip – was accused of having an affair with Jeremy in 2011.
She had worked alongside Jeremy and his co-stars James May and Richard Hammond on Top Gear.
Their relationship lasted until January 2017 when they split up and their break-up was shortly before her father had a fall.
Phillipa explained that she felt it was the “lowest point of her life” as she speaks out for the first time.
Speaking to Hertfordshire Life, Phillipa said: “We were all burned out and the stress of it all caused my worst breakdown ever.
“Truly the lowest point in my life. But it was to prove the glorious turning point.”
She added: “Jeremy was the love of my life and I thought it would be forever.”
Jeremy was accused of having an affair with events organiser Phillipa while touring Australia, South Africa and Norway in 2011.
The married father-of-three was also pictured with Phillipa in Greece at the time.
Phillipa had previously denied having an affair with Clarkson, dismissing reports that they were romantically involved as “nonsense”.
And she insisted: “Jeremy and I are friends, I have worked with him, er them (the Top Gear team) for years.”
Phillipa added: “I have been pictured with Jeremy several times, dozens of times, while working on the show. We are just friends.”

The Who Wants to Be a Millionaire presenter has been married twice previously.
Jeremy married his first wife Alexandra James in 1989.
The couple’s romance was short-lived as they split the following year in 1990.
Asked in an interview about the worst way he’d been dumped a number of years ago, Jeremy said: “The worst way anyone can dump you is by going off with your best friend.”
After the end of his first marriage, the former Top Gear presenter found love with his second wife Frances Cain.
The couple remained married for more than two decades before they divorced in 2014.
During their marriage, the couple welcomed three children together.
