Jennifer Garner Revealed Why Mark Ruffalo Almost "Dropped Out" of '13 Going on 30'

13 Going on 30's most memorable scene involved Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, and Mark Ruffalo dancing along to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" — but Garner explained that the scene almost kept Ruffalo from starring in the film altogether. In a new interview with The Skimm, Garner says that Ruffalo's lack of dance experience, coupled with her own and Greer's, made the dance sequence particularly embarrassing for him.

Garner said that Ruffalo was unaware that she and Greer both grew up dancing and that when he attended rehearsals with them, he couldn't quite keep up. It was enough to make him reconsider his role.

"We started to learn the dance. Our first rehearsal, I think it was Mark and Judy and me, and Judy and I were both dancers growing up and poor Mark didn't know that. And he came in and he hated the rehearsal process so much he almost dropped out," Garner said.

Garner and Ruffalo are reuniting for a new project, presumably without any choreography. They'll star together in The Adam Project, a time travel caper that'll see them playing Ryan Reynolds's parents. Even though the movie is still in production, Garner's already talking about how great it is to be working with Ruffalo again.

"It was wonderful," she said on Good Morning America. "We were playing a married couple and we just had this instant comfort and obviously there's just such a connection and a warmth. It was actually a really beautiful experience to revisit that relationship."

She's already teased the reunion on Instagram, throwing things back with a 13 Going on 30 reference for good measure.

"Wishing dust worked! And I got a perfect day with my old pal," she captioned the snapshot.
